What should be our attitude as we enter the sanctuary for worship?

In worship we are coming into the presence of the Sovereign, Omnipotent, Infinitely Holy, Creator God.  He has created us to worship and glorify Him.  He has revealed in scripture how He is to be worshiped.  We are to worship Him with our utmost reverence: “…let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” (Heb 12:28)  Our appearance and demeanor in worship must reflect the dignity and infinite worth that He demands and deserves:  “…the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” (Ex 3:5)  “Awe” must describe us as we truly comprehend who this majestic God is that we have entered the “sanctuary” (holy place) to worship.  “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (Jn 4:24)  The infinitely holy God is a “consuming fire” and “jealous” for His own worship. (Deut 4:24)
